Good people of the Internet,

Greetings again from Comedy Minus One, an independent record label.

The reviews are in for Bottomless Pit's "Hammer of the Gods" and they're very kind.

"Album of the year." - Questionable Content

"I cant recommend picking up this album enough." - Built on a Weak Spot

Its perfect. Flux Rad

Truly transcendent. Alternative Press

"I highly recommend this darkly and dryly spectacular Lp." - Village Voice

"Absolutely, heart-breakingly incredible." - Space City Rock

"Unlike the innumerable releases I either want to, or literally do, rip out of the player and throw across the room, this one falls into the increasingly rare leave them wanting more category." - Scratch

"Delivers Silkworm's characteristic head-nodding post-punk but replaces that band's boozy bluster with a more introspecitve, downcast atmosphere." - Magnet

"B+" - The Onion

"Pretty darn cool" - Popmaters

The Bottomless Pit album has shown up on several year-end Best Of lists:

John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats has it in his Top Ten.

Various Pitchfork writers recognize the album as well.

The Austin American-Stateman also includes it in their Top Ten.

Ditto for the good people atPerfect Sound Forever and Gibson Guitar (?!).

cmo001 bottomless pit "hammer of the gods" cd

The first Comedy Minus One release is the debut compact disc by Chicago's Bottomless Pit, entitled "Hammer of the Gods." Bottomless Pit is the new group formed by erstwhile Silkworm members Tim Midgett and Andy Cohen. They are joined by longtime friends Chris Manfrin (Seam) and Brian Orchard (.22). Silkworm is one of the most important bands of the last twenty years to all of us at Comedy Minus One, and we're honored to have the opportunity to bring you this record.

"Hammer of the Gods" is soulful, emotionally intense, and often transcendent postpunk that is as inviting as it is bracing. It was released in stores on November 6th, 2007. The record is also available from all major digital download services, including iTunes, eMusic and Rhapsody.

To order "Hammer of the Gods" please visit the Comedy Minus One store. We have copies in stock that are shipping same-day. In addition to the standard compact disc release of this great record, we also have a double 12" pressing self-released by the band for sale.

The first 20 people to order "Hammer of the Gods" on cd will each get a complementary copy of the double cd Silkworm Tribute Album "An Idiot To Not Appreciate Your Time" courtesy of Michigan's own Isaac Turner. Thanks, Issac!

See Bottomless Pit live:

Friday, January 11th @ Fire - Kalamazoo, MI with Wishek and The Coke Dares.

East coast and west coast dates hopefully coming later in 2008.

cmo002 the karl hendricks trio "the world says" digital download
cmo003 the karl hendricks rock band "buick electra" digital download

The second two releases for Comedy Minus One are both digital downloads of records by the unbeatable Karl Hendricks. We've made the first Karl Hendricks Trio record "Buick Electra" available for download as well as the 2007 Karl Hendricks Rock Band release "The World Says." "The World Says" is a record not enough people have heard, so we're doing our part to spread the word about one of Pittsburgh's finest exports.

Comedy Minus One also has a MySpace presence for those of you who dig such things.

Thank you for making it to the bottom of the screen. I am incredibly proud of this new venture and I hope you'll follow us as we grow. Send us your address and we'll send you some award-winning stickers.

Happy New Year!
