Greetings from Comedy Minus One, a new independent record label.

The first Comedy Minus One release is the debut compact disc by Chicago's Bottomless Pit, entitled "Hammer of the Gods." Bottomless Pit is the new group formed by erstwhile Silkworm members Tim Midgett and Andy Cohen. They are joined by longtime friends Chris Manfrin (Seam) and Brian Orchard (.22). Silkworm is one of the most important bands of the last twenty years to all of us at Comedy Minus One, and we're honored to have the opportunity to bring you this record.

"Hammer of the Gods" is soulful, emotionally intense, and often transcendent postpunk that is as inviting as it is bracing. It will be released in stores on November 6th, 2007, but is available for preorder now. The record is also currently available from all major digital download services, including iTunes, eMusic and Rhapsody.

Members of the press and music bloggers are encouraged to get in touch for promotional copies of this release. Press copies are mailing this week and if you want to make sure you get a copy of "Hammer of the Gods" for review let us know. Press for this record is being handled by Force Field PR.

Radio station promotional copies will mail in mid-October and I encourage stations that want to ensure they receive a copy to get in touch. Radio promotions are being handled by Chouette.

Stores and distributors are welcome to contact us about stocking this record. "Hammer of the Gods" will be distributed directly through Carrot Top, Matador Direct, Touch & Go Direct, Revolver and Scratch. We also have lovely 11" x 17" posters we're happy to send your store's way.

The second two releases for Comedy Minus One are both digital downloads of records by the unbeatable Karl Hendricks. We've made the first Karl Hendricks Trio record "Buick Electra" available for download as well as the 2007 Karl Hendricks Rock Band release "The World Says." "The World Says" is a record not enough people have heard, so we're doing our part to spread the word about one of Pittsburgh's finest exports. Hard copies of select Karl Hendricks releases, including "The World Says", should be turning up in our store throughout October.

Comedy Minus One also has a MySpace presence for those of you who dig such things.
