Good people of the Internet,

Greetings again from Comedy Minus One, an independent record label. Our second release came out yesterday and we have a bunch of equally exciting news to pass your way.

cmo004 oxford collapse "the hann-byrd ep" 12"

Our second physical release, a 12" by Sub Pop recording artist Oxford Collapse called "The Hann-Byrd Ep" was released on June 10th. Five exclusive new songs, including an OMD cover and a superfluous remix!

Christened "The Hann-Byrd Ep" in honor of actor/statesman Adam Hann-Byrd, this extended-player (limited to 500 vinyl copies and unlimited digital downloads) sinks its hooks in early and never lets go, classic Collapse style. However, it makes periodic stops for campfire sing-a-longs (Genetic Engineering), teary-eyed ruminations on loves lost and gained (Amongst Friends), authentic grandstanding (Bikini As Hole), and salty-aired tomfoolery over the course of its 20 minute running time.

"The Hann-Byrd Ep" continues Oxford Collapses dedication to providing consistently creative and interesting quality pop music at slightly better-than-average prices. Visit the Comedy Minus One site for a free mp3 of the song "Amongst Friends." You can order a copy at the Comedy Minus One on-line store. Don't miss out!

cmo005 bottomless pit "congress" digital download

We're also doing the digital distribution for a self-released 12" by Bottomless Pit called "Congress," which is now available on all digital platforms from iTunes and eMusic on down. We are also accepting pre-orders of physical copies of this record, which will ship in mid-July. Reserve a copy in the Comedy Minus One store. "Congress" has four new Bottomless Pit songs that continue the tradition formed with the release of the group's highly-acclaimed 2007 debut "Hammer of the Gods." Check the Comedy Minus One site for a free mp3 of the song "Fish Eyes."

cmo001 bottomless pit "hammer of the gods" cd

Will it ever end? The positive reviews still don't stop for Bottomless Pit's "Hammer of the Gods." Since we last spoke, Coke Machine Glow gave the record a rave, calling it "outright resplendent, a thunderous piece of musicianship...the type of mountainously consistent work we pine for."

Pitchfork rewarded the record with an 8.3 and a "recommended" tag, saying the album was "as fine a debut as folks could hope for."

Alternative Press named Bottomless Pit to its "100 Bands You Need To Know In 2008."

Other quotes to draw from:

"An exceptional extension to the Silkworm pedigree." - Skyscraper

"The themes are heavy and the music is just as remarkable." - 75 Or Less

"This album is a great argument for rock as serious art" - Snog Fever

"Another high-water mark for a band that has matured at its own pace." - Time Out Chicago

"Album of the year." - Questionable Content

"I cant recommend picking up this album enough." - Built on a Weak Spot

"I highly recommend this darkly and dryly spectacular Lp." - Village Voice

Bottomless Pit is the group formed by erstwhile Silkworm members Tim Midgett and Andy Cohen. They are joined by longtime friends Chris Manfrin (Seam) and Brian Orchard (.22).

"Hammer of the Gods" is soulful, emotionally intense, and often transcendent postpunk that is as inviting as it is bracing. The record is also available from all major digital download services, including iTunes, eMusic and Rhapsody.

To order "Hammer of the Gods" please visit the Comedy Minus One store. In addition to the standard compact disc release of this great record, we also have a double 12" pressing self-released by the band for sale.
