Good people of the Internet,

Hello from the comfort of the Comedy Minus One company couch.

cmo016 Tre Orsi “Devices + Emblems” digital download

Out now!

Tre Orsi is a trio from Denton, Texas that plays tense, dynamic rock music. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the Comedy Minus One family. The band has toured with Magnolia Electric Company, The New Year, Minus Story, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, and Nina Nastasia. They have previously released the “no. 7” single and have appeared on the outstanding Matador Records regional compilation “Casual Victim Pile.”

“Devices + Emblems” is their debut full-length, produced by Bubba Kadane of The New Year and Bedhead. This release is now available at all major download services, including iTunes, eMusic and Rhapsody. If you prefer to snag this record from an alternative digital provider of your choosing, neither the label or band will take any offense.

The digital version of “Devices + Emblems” contains the band’s first single as bonus tracks.

A dwindling number of copies of the vinyl pressing of said album are currently in stock in the Comedy Minus One store. Order one!

Recently, some praise has drifted Tre Orsi’s way.

Says The Unblinking Ear:

“That they could reclaim the soft/loud dynamic from nearly 20 years of terrible post-grunge and spin it into something distinctly their own on a song like “Best Kind of Failure” is nothing short of remarkable. I could cite other tracks as fine examples of their craft but, frankly, it seems a little redundant. There’s simply not a bad one in the bunch…

…”Devices + Emblems” is one of the year’s best albums.

Dusted writes:

What a peach it is!…

…the notion of ‘90s indie rock might as well be folk music (or at least the sort of folk music we looked down upon in the ‘90s) but goddamnit, this is my folk music, and I’m sure more than a handful of you wouldn’t argue that it’s yours, too.

Please download the Tre Orsi’s song “The Engineer” here with our compliments.

cmo015 Bottomless Pit “Blood Under The Bridge” cd / digital download

Coming August 10, 2010.

We’re proud to let those of you reading these words know that the new Bottomless Pit album “Blood Under The Bridge” will be released in the compact disc and digital formats on Comedy Minus One come August 10. The band’s third record and second full-length explores the awful and thrilling randomness of fate, with a hard fix on the future. Affectionate and brusque, languid and bracing – it is nearly peerless modern postpunk.

Like with their highly acclaimed debut record “Hammer of the Gods,” Bottomless Pit will self-release a 2×12″ edition that we will stock with pleasure in our store.

Please download the Bottomless Pit song “38 Souls,” which closes the new record, here.

Since we last spoke, we’ve added physical copies of the final Silkworm record “Chokes!” (12XU) to our store at the extreme discount of $5 a disc. Worth the price for the song “Lilly White & Cherry Red” alone!

For the same dollar amount you can also order Tre Orsi’s debut 7″ direct from us.

Also available, at the unconscionable price of $10 for two cds packed with 29 covers, is the Silkworm tribute album “An Idiot To Not Appreciate Your Time.” Featuring songs by The Kadane Brothers, Treasure State, Tre Orsi, The Soft Drugs, Steve Albini & Heather Whinna, .22, The Kyle Sowashes and many more, this collection pays respect to one of the 20th century’s great American rock bands. You can pick up a copy here.

Comedy Minus One has a a Facebook page, a Twitter handle and MySpace presence for those of you who dig such things. More frequent bursts of news can be found there or on the Comedy Minus One blog.

Members of the press and music bloggers are encouraged to get in touch for promotional copies of these releases or if you want to write about what we’re up to. Advances of the new Bottomless Pit record will be available very soon.

Stores and distributors are welcome to contact us about stocking these titles. Comedy Minus One is distributed directly through Carrot Top, Matador Direct and Revolver. Canadians can try F.A.B. or Scratch.

Buckle your seatbelts and look both ways at the green, please.
